The building, simply known as the “Face House” or “Kao no ie”, was designed by Kazumasa Yamashita in 1974 and since then has become a figurehead of Kyotos architectural landscape. Yamashita houses are mostly executed in an abstract and modern way yet also incorporating Pop design elements as seen in the “Face House”.
